Well, Black Friday will be different this year. Pandemic fatigue is setting in, but…really, let’s keep trying okay?
Shopping with the Neighb News family of advertisers will keep it local and keep it small. No waiting in big lines with tons of other people at the crack of dawn waiting for a big store to open, right? See page 12 for some ideas on how to support our advertisers while getting your shopping done.
Thanksgiving and the rest of the holiday season will also look different this year. My cousins usually all get together (well, not all, but lots of ’em) and do a “cousin bar crawl” on the night before Thanksgiving. This year, we’ll be using Zoom for that. One of my cousins set it up so that there are different rooms. So, just like in a house when you’d be roaming around talking to different groups of people, you can Zoom around. Pretty cool, huh? Who knew? I thought Zoom was only for garbling the audio in meetings and blocking out Jay Simmons from voting and making a bunch of people turn on mute when they want to talk and turn it off when the dog is barking. But I digress.
In one room we’ll be doing shots, in the other room we’ll be watching a movie, in the other room we’ll be yapping while some of us are cooking.
All while in the comfort of our own homes.
Anyway, we’ll be keeping it small this year, no big bashes. But we will see each other when we can, and we will chat and Zoom and stay in touch.
Let’s try to be thankful for what we do have, what we can do, and keep that hand sanitizer close by.
We have meeting coverage in here, a couple of stories about vandalism: one that got repaired, one that needs to get some little monsters out there with a sand blaster and a sponge! And maybe some soap in the mouth, too.
Until next week then…see ya (from a distance). And Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
