Fairhaven alumni and Fairhaven Lions Club members routinely fly the “big flag” at Fairhaven High School on most holidays, and this Veterans Day was no exception. The flagpole at the high school is the only one high enough to accommodate the50x30-foot flag. They usually raise the flag at about 8 a.m. and take it down at 4 or 5 in the afternoon, depending on when sunset is. Last Wednesday, the Neighb News caught the action as volunteers took down the big flag, which is quite the operation to make sure it does not touch the ground, and requires quite a few people to do it right.
