Whoa…did you feel that? The ground shook.
No, I don’t mean the election. I mean…the ground shook, really.
We had an honest-to-goodness earthquake in these parts (see page 13). I heard it and felt it. It was a doozy. But, by California standards it was nothing, nothing at all. Now, that’s scary.
I’m glad we don’t get a lot of those. My little house would probably fall down.
We have some meeting coverage for you, including BPW on page 11 and Selectboard on page 4.
Speaking of the Selectboard, their next meeting is Monday, and I will send yet another email to the town administrator asking him to poll the Selectboard members again to let us in the room. They have kept the press out for months. At first I didn’t push it because I figured it wouldn’t last too long, but this thing is dragging on and on. You read last week’s story. We should have been in the room for that. We are your eyes and ears in the room. They mute out stuff, so you can’t hear it on Zoom or on the website, and, of course, we only get to see what the camera shows. That is not the same; that is not okay.
I just want to point out that Keith Silvia was allowed to be inside the room when he was running for Selectboard. He was not on the board at that time. He told me he didn’t “do” Zoom, he’s an in-person kind of guy. And, just to hammer the point home, in case you missed it, he is the deciding vote to let the press in the room. Dan Freitas, of course, said “no,” because he thinks we’re meanies to him; Bob Espindola, of course, said “yes,” because he’s an adult and understands that it’s just wrong to keep the press out of the room; and Keith, well…he never answered. Yeah. He got in during the worst of the pandemic when EVERYTHING was shut down, but he won’t vote to let us in. Put any name you want on that.
Hey, how ‘bout that election, huh? Looks like the clown’s days are numbered, 70. Yup, 70 days until inauguration. I’d like to thank my fellow Americans for joining me in saving our democracy.
This guy did everything he could to destroy everything that makes us who we are, and he did a lot of damage in the last four years. I said it four years ago and I’ll say it again: Donald Trump doesn’t even know what being an American really is. He sold us out at every turn, now we’re kicking him out of the White House. Seems fitting.
