Brrr….it got cold out there. I was really hoping for a couple more fishing excursions, but, gee. BRRR.
The Fairhaven Selectboard met this week (see page 4). The meeting went on forever. No, really, it was like four hours long.
And these guys think the Town Administrator has to much power, they want to take some away and give it to themselves. Geesh. Pay attention. Not that they can anyway. The duties are laid out in the TA act, so…
Mr. Espindola keeps pushing for the free report by the Department of Revenue. He’s been pushing pretty hard for it for months now. And Dan Freitas, the chairperson, is dead set against it. Keith Silvia just follows Dan, so…you know where that vote’s going. Actually, I’m not sure it came up for a vote.
Anyway, my point here is this: Mr. Espindola clearly thinks it’s very important and will help the town get its finances in ship shape. I wonder, eh, if he knows there’s a problem somewhere and he’s looking for a way to get it out to the public. I also wonder if Mr. Freitas knows about that same problem and does NOT want it out in the public. And Keith…well, doesn’t matter. He’ll just do what Dan tells him to do.
Makes you wonder, huh? Why the push back on a study that’s free by the state and will give lots of great information. Of course, they’ll have to look at the books, right?
There’s some fun stuff in here, of course. Our cover story is one of them (see page 12). We haven’t any of the usual events to cover this summer, so it was nice to be out there at a normal event.
We’ve also got a couple of pictures of the new sign at Fort Phoenix (page 13).
