For the past 15 weeks the Acushnet Council on Aging has participated in the USDA Farm to Families program which allowed us to distribute 20 pounds of fresh produce once a week.
Thanks to our partnership with PACE (People Acting in Community Endeavors) we were also able to distribute 20 pounds of shelf stable food and frozen protein at the same time. The program ended on Thursday, 8/27/20, but we were able to help 630 families, 575 of which were Acushnet residents.
“The positive energy over in Acushnet has been overwhelmingly amazing and we continue to be so fortunate with great department heads, volunteers and friends,” wrote COA Director Heather Sylvia in an mail. “It truly is #TeamAcushnet.”
