On Saturday, May 14, 50 cyclists of all ages and abilities gathered at Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven to celebrate National Bike Month and Bay State Bike Week. Riders chose from three rides of varying lengths: 8, 20 and 40 mile routes. The ride was organized by the Fairhaven Bikeway Committee and the South Coast Bikeway Alliance with assistance from SRPEDD.
Mass Bike provided safety gear to participants in the form of reflective draw string backpacks, arm bands, tail lights and stickers.
The South Coast Bikeway invited riders to join the third Annual Summer Bike Challenge where communities along the South Coast compete from May 1 to Labor Day.
Prizes are awarded for the most miles logged by individuals and communities. Learn more by visiting southcoastbikeway.com.
