Organizers said that more than 1500 runners registered for the 51st Fathers’ Day 5K Road Race on Sunday, 6/14/25, but 1390 actually showed up to run and finish the race according to RaceWire.com.
Will Benoit, 22, of Lowell, crossed the finish line first in 15:03, followed by Ryan O’Connell, 34, of New Bedford in 15:47, and Nicholas Hall, 24, of Boston in 16:29.
First woman over the line was Nora Blodget, 24, of Boston, in 18:14, followed by Naomi Cass, 21, of Westport in 18:21, and Madalyn Duarte, 17, of Dartmouth, in 19:23.
Youngest over the line was Cecelia Lheureux, under one year old pushed a long by her adult, Ryan Lheureux, in 27:40. Second youngest over the line was one-year-old Vienna Medeiros, pushed along by her adult, Andre Medeiros, in 21:27
The weather was cool, but dry, so emergency personnel said they were a little surprised that more than a few runners got sick and vomited after they crossd the finish line. Nothing life threatening, they just got some liquids and were sent on their way.
At the end of the race, top finishers received cash prizes and gift certificates. The top 50 dads also received gift cards.
Organizer, Carolyn Days Merrill, whose father, Allen Days, is the origional founder of the race, said it was the first one he missed. He fell, she said, and is recovering, but he could not make it.
She quoted two statements makes often.
“Fairhaven is the place to be on Fathers’ Day,” she said. And, “Everybody is a winner who crosses the finish line.”
