The area got its first substantial snowfall of the season and year this week, with five inches falling in Fairhaven on Friday, 1/7. The state got anywhere from a dusting to a whopping 14.4 inches in Westwood and 15.2 inches in the Blue Hills Reservartion in Milton. New Bedford got 3.5”, and Boston got 11.2 inches. Many communities south and west of Boston received close to a foot of snow. The Cape and far western parts of the state got just a dusting. There were scattered power outages, but nothing widespread, and they did not last long.
