Press Release
The Fairhaven Alumni Association has selected 13 outstanding graduates to receive the Joseph St. Pierre Memorial Arts Scholarship. Each student was recognized with a grant for $1000 to support their pursuit of a career in the Arts. The announcement comes on the third anniversary of Mr. St Pierre’s passing.
“Joey represents the highest caliber of creative talent to ever emerge from Fairhaven High,” said Chad Portas, a former classmate and childhood friend of Mr. St. Pierre. “He was taken too soon, but he left a wake of artistic energy in his path that continues to inspire others to this very day. This is a celebration of his legacy and the beautiful dent he made in the universe.”
In addition to the 13 scholarships, a $20,000 grant was made in memory of Mr. St. Pierre to outfit the School’s Art Department with the most progressive tools and resources for developing the next generation of Fairhaven’s Artists, Designers, and Filmmakers. The gift was made possible by the Fairhaven High School Alumni Association in partnership with a private donor.
The 13 recipients are: Jeffrey Szynal, Mike Sargent, Linda Nguyen, Noah Duarte, Eve Hartig, Jacob Cabral, Anna Marinelli, Serena DeOliveira, Leah Stevenson, Sean Flynn, Sarelle Veitch, Madyson Pires, Kate-Lynn Rapoza.
