Ernest Benoit Remembrance
This Saturday, 10/20, at 10 a.m., the North Fairhaven Improvement Association invites the public to remember Ernest Benoit, who was killed in action 100 years ago. Meet at Benoit Square, which is named after him, corner of Adams Street and Howland Road. (RAIN DATE 10/21).
The NFIA remembers World War I soldier Pvt. Ernest Benoit, a member of Company D of the 321st Machine Gun Battalion who was killed in action in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in France on October 13, 1918. Benoit Square was named in memory of him by a Town Meeting vote in 1928.

The ceremony will also include a remembrance of Lance Cpl. Patrick J. Gallagher (1978-2006) who is also memorialized at the square; and Lance Corporal Matthew R. Rodriguez, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2013.
